BAND OF THE DAY: SYSTEM FUCKER

It's easy to descend into thinly veiled Orientalism when talking about how mysterious Japanese bands are, as if the yellow man is inherently unknowable or inscrutable or whatever else writers of 19th Century pulp detective fiction liked to hammer out to further the plot through prejudice. Yes, it's true, we know precious little about noisy d-beat bastards System Fucker, but that's because they don't seem bothered about getting anything down in English. It's not even a low prioty, it's just not a priory at all which is why appreciation of Japanese hardcore is such a diehard interest – it's the musical equivilent of fansubbed anime episodes, at least in the era before it was everywhere and chubby white kids were happily dressing as Sailor Moon at weekends.

Some truly apocalyptic noise abounds on their self-titled EP (and no doubt also on their forthcoming split with the honestly monikered D-Clone), it's mined from the familiar, as is painfully obvious from one look at these posturing postcard punks, but it's ramped up to impossibly clattery levels, taking a Shitlickers cover well beyond its initial battery into whole new territory of harshness.
