BAND OF THE DAY: FRIGHTMARE

Gore grind - splatter grind are genres that can really go either way for me. It's either really good, or really bad, there are not that many middle of the road bands as far as gore grind is concerned, or what bands classify themselves as. A few bands really stick out: Machetazo, Gruesome Stuff Relish, Ghoul - but really my favorite would have to be FRIGHTMARE. I think really, the main part of enjoyment I get from Frightmare is that effective way of using old slasher and horror movie samples - Any band can put in a few samples over their music, but these splatter hounds do it in such a way that the ring of the guitar plays over the sample and you are soothed into a furious world of death, revenge, and blood stains that take weeks to get out of your clothes.

They also have a very pleasant way of bringing thrash metal, grind and even some blast beats all in one epic platter. There is really never too much of one genre that make up "splatter" grind... This I find, is usually my pet peeve in other bands that follow this formula. They over-play one thing or another and you are left bored.

Frightmare has had releases on Razorback Recordings and Torture Garden Picture Company.
